Tis the Season to Vote, Exercise Your Rights as an Esteemed Searchles User

Take a deep breath - we're not talking about Huckabee, Chuck Norris, Hillary or Billary. Searchles users far and wide, we challenge you to start rating the crap out of the posts. Speak your mind, show your true colors, quit being such a woman about these things and be decisive. It's 1 through 5 - that's your game. Our ratings system is incorporated into our search results so this is actually quite important...yes, important indeed.

OH and the homepage! Forget not - the highest rated content daily is pushed to the Searchles homepage for the world to see (and keep rating!). We'd love to count those votes for you so send love to the links, videos and channels that please you and condemn the spammy and uninteresting posts to a downward spiral of 1's they deserve.

That's about as exciting I can make our ratings system and your god-given right as one of our users sound. So get out there and move mountains. And of course, a channel for your enjoyment (or displeasure? TELL US, for the love). It's the entire Jan 30 GOP Debate mashed up into one by one of our users.

Recap of Crunchies Event (Brought to You in Part by Searchles, the number 2.0, and Viewers Like You)

This past Friday 900 or so folks from the tech community, including our very own Caveman, attended the first Crunchies event in San Francisco hosted by TechCrunch to honor startups in categories across the Web 2.0 spectrum. Program sponsors included Searchles!, Ask.com, and Lehman Brothers among others.

The Searchles channel below includes ABC media coverage, Michael Arrington interviews, highlights of the event, and a lovely fake Steve Job acceptance of an Apple award. Footage from the after-party is sure to surface - perhaps Caveman is hiding it from us...he has a sordid history with the Wham! + karaoke + beer combo.

You can watch a video of the entire event that Mogulus recorded here and view photos on Flickr under the tag “2007crunchies.”

Searchles TV Spreadin' like Syphilis and First Gripes of '08

Well, here we are in 2008 - no big deal. I'd like to take a moment to air a few non-social search, non-web 2.o-related grievances. I like cash - holding it, collecting it, pretending to light it on fire but pulling back at the last second, paying with it - just as much as the next fellow or fella, but I hate that moment right after you've paid for something in cash and are getting your change back where you awkwardly struggle to get the washingtons and unwieldy coinage back into your wallet while the cashier and dude behind you are tapping their respective feet. That might have been a long sentence but let it's great length reflect my great displeasure at this experience. I'm not a multi-tasker so that means I can't walk AND put cash n'coins back into my wallet...I'm standing there in your way until the deed is done. Come to think of it, this usually happens to me at Starbucks. So not only am I grumpy because it's early in the morning, but I'm also uncaffeinated...a fairly explosive combo of unpleasant feelings. May you never be behind me at Starbucks.

Other news, we've been seeing Searchles TV channels pop up left and right and some places in between on the web! Whether the channels are mashed or remashed, we're excited to see people combining our video features with their creativity to spread online video love. Here's an example of the latest and greatest Searchles channels (REMASHED!) on the web:
