If you’ve noticed something different on Searchles today, well you’re mighty perceptive. Due to your gracious feedback, we’ve shifted the focus of our homepage to the top rated content as opposed to the "most recent" posts that we’ve traditionally displayed. The default display will be the top rated content posted within the past 24 hours but you have the option to view the top rated content posted anywhere from 24 hours to one month prior depending on your preference.
So how can you still view the most recent posts in order to rate them? There are multiple ways to stay connected to this content. The “most recent” option to the top right of the posts on the homepage will display all the recent posts on Searchles sequentially. You can also use Searchles Live or your my!Searchles page to stay up-to-date on recently posted content within your circle of groups and friends. Group pages will still list the most recent posts as well with and the option to view the highest rated posts within said group is only a click away.
Back to the homepage – we’re excited to make this switch! But it’s up to you (just like Time magazine said!) to rate the posts you enjoy to keep the homepage chock full of the good stuff. If you see a good posting, rate it up and encourage your friends to do so as well so it can make a cameo on the homepage!

SEARCHLES HAS FOUND ‘ALMOST’ OFFICIAL FOLK PARODY BAND WE’VE ALWAYS DREAMED OF: FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS
As one can read in the email below, times are dangerous to be without an official folk parody band – we’ll settle for ‘almost.’ Who else would be by your side to turn that frown upside down on a tough day? With that, we’d like to congratulate Flight of the Conchords on their recent successes and impending HBO series. Did we have anything/everything to do with aforementioned successes? Well, stats were inconclusive. See F o t C Searchles TV Channel below and laugh heartily:

Dear Conchords,
I am writing you because my company, a new search engine called Dumbfind, is in great need of a new official folk parody band. Our old official folk parody band met with a rather untimely demise recently, leaving us as a target for anti-search-engine-with-no-official-folk-parody-band radical groups. It is a very dangerous time to not have a folk parody group that can make a show of great strength, as I am sure you are well aware.
If you would like to help us out, please do the following:
1. Respond to this email with the word OK. Also accepted are the following responses: o.k. and okay
2. Not sue us when we say that FotC is the official folk parody band of Dumbfind. I pray very much you can help us out, thanks for your time.
Regards,
Chris Seline

SOCIAL SEARCH VS. SOCIAL NETWORKING - SEARCHLES® OFFERS USERS THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
Hey all, we’ve listened to your feedback about offering a more personalized view of Searchles and recently reintroduced the my!Searchles feature to do just that. Thanks for your input! My!Searchles combines the user-interaction and active exchange of social networking sites with all the advantages of an integrated social search. The page now offers a multi-panel view that highlights the top rated content relevant to your interests and also displays a SearchlesLive! stream of activity within your circle of friends and groups – keeping you closely connected to the trust users and relevant content.
Here are the fundamental advantages of the user-built search we just can’t seem to stop talking about:
• A robust built-in integrated social search engine enabling the users to find and friend others based on their interest by reviewing their postings, tag cloud (auto-generated based on postings), group membership, etc. Users are not merely listing out their interests next to their name; they are actively showing you their interests by posting the relevant content on our site.
• The user-controlled group functionality enabling you to invite or reject other users as you wish based on their postings or your interactions.
• Searchles Live!, gives you a snapshot of what's happening within your circle of friends and groups -- posting, commenting, messaging, rating, video channels, etc. It facilitates discussion and increases social interaction on Searchles as you comment back and forth with others.
This more personalized view of Searchles will allow users to strengthen their connections with fellow Searchles users – associations based on common or perhaps conflicting (all the more fun!) interests through the content a user posts and rates. These connections (“friendships”, “social networks”, “the Brad to your Angelina”) will serve not only to increase the exchange of relevant content and to open the lines of communication between users, but will also – as content is tagged, rated, and shared – lead to a more solid Searchles community.

INTRODUCING SEARCHES LIVE! -- ENABLING YOU TO TRACK RELEVANT CONTENT WITHIN YOUR CIRCLE OF FRIENDS AND GROUPS
We recently launched a hot new time/energy-saving feature -- Searchles Live! It's easily accessed from the top of the homepage and gives you the all-around snapshot of what's happening within your circle of friends and groups -- posting, commenting, messaging, rating, etc. The page is automatically-updating and will serve to facilitate discussion and increase social interaction on Searchles as users comment back and forth -- as well as keep you in the loop without those annoying email notifications!
Like many of our other search features on Searchles, Searchles Live adapts to your preferences. By clicking on settings, you can choose which set of activity you'd like to see highlighted on your Searchles Live page - 'me', 'friends', 'groups', 'fans', 'friends of friends', 'people in my groups', 'randoms I met in the bar on Tuesday afternoon'...you get it. You can also control the timeframe for the activity displayed - ranging anywhere from 3 to 24 hours prior. By applying these search filters, Searchles Live displays a fully personalized list of posts, comments, or ratings generated by your circle of friends and associated groups.
While the Searchles homepage remains very useful for a view of the broader spectrum of what's currently happening and is highly-rated on Searchles, Searchles Live cuts to the chase and is tailored directly to your interests and preferences. Dreamy, yes? Great. Have a look!
